St Patrick’s Open House is a twice-weekly invitation to the homeless and vulnerable to come and have a home-cooked meal.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in.

Open House started in 2003 feeding approximately 50 guests each week. Over the years Open House has grown and we now have a team of 160 wonderful cooks who prepare food on a rota basis. These delicious meals are brought into St Patrick’s every week where volunteers serve them. At the moment we are feeding between 60 and 70 guests each week, twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. The Groucho Club, Soho and Baboo Restaurant, Mayfair provide our puddings each week.
Our Open House guests include the homeless and those living in hostels or squats. They may be homeless people whom we have known for some time or those we have met in the street and invited in or they may have heard about us on the street.
We start and end our welcome with prayers. It gives all of us an opportunity to share all the gifts and poverties we have and it helps to create a peaceful atmosphere.
For the last 13 years, Open House has tried to answer the Lord’s call to recognise Him in those who suffer most in our society. There are many feeding plans in London but with Open House the homeless become part of our spiritual community where a sense of family is fostered. Why not come and join us?
If you are interested in volunteering please email us and we will be in touch.
Open House relies on donations and the generosity of our cooks and volunteers. To help raise funds for Open House the volunteers organise a Bazaar in Soho Square each year. Please keep an eye on our website for updates.
