A special Mass incorporating a performance of Marbhna 1916 – Requiem specially composed by Odhrán O’ Casaide and conducted by David O’ Doherty will be performed during Mass on Tuesday 29th November 2016 at 7.15pm. This performance is part of the closing events of the London Centenary Programme and features Classical and Traditional soloists alongside the members of the Choir of St Patrick’s. Requiem 1916 Marbhna, in Irish, is a solemn expression of commemoration and sets out to explore the beauty of sean nós voice, together with chamber choir and orchestra, classical solo voices, traditional and early music instruments. The blend of Irish and classical music reflects two great musical traditions in Ireland at the turn of the last century where the musical motifs are carried seamlessly from genre to genre. The event will be supported by the Irish Embassy, Culture Ireland and Irish Tourism.
This is a unique opportunity to see a very special performance and I do hope you can join us. All welcome.
